7 Things to Expect From the Royal Birth

If you feel like you’ve been in labor for the past 15 hours and you aren’t even pregnant, there’s a reason. After checking into St. Mary’s Hospital just before 6 a.m., Kate Middleton just gave birth, at 4:24 p.m. BST, to a boy.

Exciting as that news may be, the party isn’t over. It’s just getting started. Here’s what we know and everything to expect in the next few suns and moons about this royal-est of babies after just hours on Earth:

1. An appearance with Kate. Keeping with tradition, Kate’s expected to appear on the front steps of the hospital with her newborn, just as Princess Diana did with Prince William and Prince Harry after each of their births.

2. A name. And we could learn his in less than a week. While the world had to wait 10 days for Prince William’s name to be announced, a CNN royal correspondent says that in today’s fast-paced, tech-savvy age, the name could be announced when the family leaves the hospital.

3. Kate will remain in the hospital overnight. According to the Palace’s Twitter, “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”

4. The baby’s star sign is a Cancer. Meaning it’s generous, but a classic over-reactor; compatible with Virgos and Pisces, just stay away Libras.

5. To spend first weeks in Norfolk. While its exact whereabouts are a heavily guarded secret, it’s being reported that the new family may be spending their first weeks together at the Queen’s estate in Sandringham, or even possibly Kate’s home village of Bucklebury in Berkshire. They aren’t expected to move into their official residence, Kensington Palace, for a while.

6. A relatively “normal” upbringing. Based on Kate’s own more humble background, she’s reportedly asked that there not be a royal nanny assigned to her baby boy.

7. Regardless, you can still refer to him as “His Royal Highness Prince [Insert-Name-Here] of Cambridge,” thank you, commoners.
